I am a psychotherapist with over twenty years direct practice experience with individuals, couples and the elderly. I have also worked with youth and their families. My specialty is mood disorders, particularly bipolar disorder. In my practice I use a variety of therapeutic methods including solution focused therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, marital/couples therapy and art therapy.

My approach to working with clients is to initially address the concerns that brought them to treatment. When it seems pertinent, past experiences are considered if they may be contributing to presenting problems. I help clients set goals that will address these issues and then assist them in developing new coping skills that will enable them to function more effectively in life, work and relatiosnhips.

I received my Master of Arts Degree in psychology from Antioch University in 1987. Prior to starting my private practice in 1999 I worked with the elderly in community mental health and nursing home settings in Snohomish, WA and in Seattle. In 2000 I extended the scope of my experience to working with youth at risk and their families.

After receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art Education from Boston University I attended the University of Washington to obrain a Master of Fine Arts degree in metal design and enameling. Several years later I continued my education at Antioch University where I received a Master of Arts degree in Psychology with a focus on counseling and art therapy. With this learning experience I was able to combine all of the skills, knowledge and experience I had up to then developed in art education, psychology, and fine arts. I therefore bring a high level of creativity to my practice and encourage that in my clients.
